Lessons learned from Lakeland and Todd Bentley
Mindy & I are home from our recent ministry trip to southern Mexico. We experienced a tremendous
outpouring of the Spirit. Possibly the greatest we've ever seen, in our 8 years of ministry in Mexico.
In one church an estimated 100 people received the baptism of the Spirit and spoke in tongues for the
first time. At another event, The Gran Fiesta in Oaxaca, a 3 day event attended by over 3000 people,
400-500 of whom were pastors, the move of the Spirit was so strong we actually got kicked out of the
event. We ministered twice to the general assembly and twice to the youth. The second time we
ministered under a tent to several hundred of the youth, Holy Spirit ran over the teenagers like a Mack Truck.
Around 30 were saved, another 30 received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and were speaking in tongues for the first time(some very loudly) and around 50 were laughing
in the Spirit. They were mostly rolling around in the grass, being touched by Jesus. This brought out
the religious police, who were not impressed and we received the "left foot of fellowship". Everywhere
we went the move of the Spirit was the same. When you factor in the tenfold increase in miracles we've seen Jesus
do in the last year, obviously the anointing on our lives has increased since being involved and
immersed in the move of God in Lakeland. The anointing was on Todd Bentley in a tremendous way and yet
he fell. In a letter written by Rick Joiner concerning the matter he believes Todd's anointing had
surpassed his character. Todd is not the only one in the body of Christ with dark places, blind spots
and weaknesses. We all have them, I have them. The dross will rise to the surface. I personally have
committed to a season of character building. For me this is a lesson learned from the Lakeland
outpouring. It's going to take more from me to walk in this anointing, than I ever knew it would and
I'm OK with that. God's Glory is to valuable to be taken lightly or carried cheaply, yet it's free to
all. The road does indeed get narrow and we're never quite prepared or equipped, help us Jesus!
be blessed and be free
